~2 min read The challenge I find is at this point, it can't not pop. The valuations have gotten too high. The promises have gotten to outlandish. And if you slap AI in your otherwise failed company that does nothing related to technology, you too can get a stock pop of 400%. This reminds me distinctly how multiple companies in the late 90s added .com to their company name, just so that people would think they're a tech stop and impulse buy them. This was before the ability to get on and day trade specific companies, and still people found the motivation to get excited enough to race to buy the Fatbrain.com, which popped by 30% on the name being released. People talked about their being general mania there at the time, but it never really popped in the same way that people talked about it now. It was more of a long a draw down over years time in fact. In fact in many ways the Bitcoin boom of the late 2010s is better comparison for the hype, specifically in the sheer mania of add Bitcoin to the name of the company and get your company's stock to pop as the Long Island Iced Tea company found out it could. The AI bubble popping will happen. In fact I think it probably has already started. That said, people will still find value in the underlying tech. I expect it lays somewhere closer to the value of the Internet as the value of crypto is still doubtful at best. |
